Winter breakage

Dec. 28th, 2008 | 06:53 pm
music: Lakers game

Although I read my friends page everyday, I have no desire these days to update this thing anymore (partially because I'm addicted to facebook and most recently twitter) but I can't find it in me to completely purge it thing either. I'm sure the fact that I've had it since 2003 has something to do with it. But anyways...

Winter break has been good thus far. I bought a lot of great gifts for people, as well as recieved them. I have a trunk full of new shoes to bring back to Davis. It makes me feel so Imelda Marcos-esque. I spend the nights awake at least until 5 am, then wake up around noon and maybe go out and make something of myself. I am eating so well because of the access to all my favorite LA eateries. While I am putting on the pounds, my wallet is losing them. I'm getting addicted to playing Wii games (especially Wii Fit) and I have the perpetually sore right arm to prove it. I finally finished reading House of Leaves as well as What Dreams May Come. Both very excellent reads, although HoL was definitely one of those most intricately written books I ever opened. I watched "Milk" the other day and loved it. Sean Penn was surprisingly very convincing as Harvey Milk, much less a gay man. I want to see "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" next. Fern and I had an authentic late-night dinner in Little Tokyo, and he's introduced me to taking the cue sticker pictures that are popular in Japan. They're so much fun! Now that it's basketball season, I find myself getting into watching the games. My dad and grandpa's penchant for the Lakers is rubbing off on me. I got drunk once so far at Howl at the Moon (some popular piano bar at Universal City Walk, Hollywood) and I get to do it again on the 2nd. I still have no New Years Eve plans, but at this point I'm not counting on anything epic. My lola is showing early signs of dementia/Altzheimers and it's terribly heartbreaking. I'm beginning to emotionally let go of someone, but it's for the best I think. I'm actually really looking forward to the start of new classes AND Washinton, D.C. in less than three weeks! I love green tea. The end.

It's one in the morning right now, and I'm sitting here thinking to myself: Is it really only one right now?

I'm pretty sure I bombed the final I had tonight and I am so angry.

- (Here is where I am most at fault) I hardcore crammed for it these past two days -- and it was not only a shitload of information to know, but a shitload of COMPLICATED information.
- I'm currently fighting off the most annoying cold ever. I even had to sit next to the garbage disposal with my box of kleenex that's been glued to my hand since Sunday.
- And I doubt it was just me, but there was NOT ENOUGH TIME! Like, no joke. Sure, 100 multiple choice questions can be done in two hours, but when 80% of them require at least one minute to read and THINK about before answering...um, yeah. I don't want to sound self-serving by saying that it was unfair, but it is kind of cruel. For this reason, I was growing hopeless and ready to throw myself out a window. BLOODY HELL!!!!

Okay...I'm done bitching and feel more accepting of my pending doom of getting an undesired grade in this class. Back to finishing my paper on sex hormones ~ *poof*

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!...And a non-debilitating overload of tryptophan.

Ours was good and simple this year. For once, I didn't overeat, but that's most likely 'cause I cooked. Does anyone else notice that cooking elaborate meals diminishes your apetite? I made a broccoli and cheese quiche and some tamales from scratch. The tamales were kind of tricky BUT they came out nearly perfect, so that was a Godsend. I also baked glutten-free Nutella brownies, and they were scrumptious! I need to bake more; it's fun and somewhat therapeutic for me.

I'm not making an effort to hang out with friends while I'm home, nor am I working on my huge Sensory Processes paper when I said I could/would/should. I've been experiencing a burn out from school, working in the lab, and averaging 0-3 hours of sleep these past couple weeks, so it feels good to not do shit for a change. Tomorrow will be different though. I'm hanging out in the CSUN library for the five hours it will be open to get some productivity in, then seeing a show with Kat at the Troubadour. SWEET!
